Alan & Thomas Insurance Group are leading charity insurance specialists who provide insurance solutions and risk management services for a number of charity types, including animal welfare, village halls, youth groups and educational charities.

We have a long-standing relationship with the charity sector. Our team of trusted charity insurance advisers have first-hand experience of the sector and appreciate the challenges and opportunities that all charities face in our fast changing world.

For over thirty years, we have helped a wide variety of charities of all types and sizes seek professional advice on their risk management procedures and charity insurance programme.  We ensure that your day to day operations are fully covered and are always on hand to answer any queries you may have, at any time.

Originally founded in 1975, we have now firmly established ourselves as a Top 100 independent insurance broker in the UK¹. We are also a member of Brokerbility - a network of 37 independent brokers across the UK- which gives us national size and reach but the ability to offer local and personal service.

In 2007, we were awarded the prestigious title of ‘Chartered Insurance Broker’ by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and are proud to be the only independent broker in Dorset to have achieved this status. The title is given to those brokers who pass a rigorous annual inspection to prove they can demonstrate their professional commitment to raising standards of knowledge, capability and ethical practice. We have successfully renewed our status each year since 2007. Chartered broker status is recognised as the ‘gold standard’ within the insurance industry and it proves to clients that they can expect the very highest levels of expertise, service and support on a continued basis.

Here at Alan & Thomas, we are committed to providing our clients with first class charity insurance service and advice on their risk management and charity insurance programmes. The majority of our advisory staff have obtained their professional qualifications from the CII and are experts in their chosen sector so clients can be assured of tailored and knowledgeable service. We also have a very experienced in-house claims team who will take the pressure off you in the unfortunate event of a claim and pursue the matter to a satisfactory conclusion with your charity insurer.

Our offices and staff

With headquarters in Poole, Dorset and three further offices in Gillingham, Dorchester and Frome, we now employ over sixty staff members. All of our staff adhere to a strict set of values, chosen by them, to ensure our charity insurance clients are treated with the highest levels of customer service, respect and efficiency - please see below.

We work closely with the UK's leading charity insurers to develop bespoke charity insurance products, which allows us to tailor cover to our clients' exact requirements to fit their lifestyle and needs.
